It's been less than a month researching Men and Feminism. Unfortunately for me, I can't buy recent books from online. But even that, after reading several articles, I decided that I came to a conclusion that...there's actually no role for men in Feminism.
Okay maybe not.
Feminism means equal rights to both men and women and while feminism is not about hating men, I came to believe that there's actually no role for men in feminism, even though I haven't read the books.
The Men in Feminism book by Alice Jardine and Paul Smith is really hard to understand because to me it's really outdated.
Meanwhile I was trying to insert the feminism elements to my (future) stories that centers around female protagonist and the Smuff Principal (you know the only male in a group of females). But it's extremely hard because if the females are strong and independent, what do I have to do with this guy? I really don't want him to be a butt monkey at all. So I had no choice but to make the Smuff Principal to be more very smart and very helpful to the girls and also had a strong relationship with the clique (if I would put them in there).
I think there's a wisdom that men helping women is not what feminism. But I had to give it up.
Okay I want the Smuff Principal to be very (emotionally) strong, very intelligent (probably a male straight A student), and very helpful to his female friends. But at the same time, I don't want the girls to rely on him all the time. I want the females and the Sumff Principal (aka as the only male) to work together. I'm really dreaming of writing that.
